FAQ

FAQ

Everything you need to know about learning with CUE Artists.

Do I need to know which programme I want before applying?

No. Tell us about your current experience, work and development goals. CUE reviews your application and recommends the most relevant programme and pathway where appropriate.

Who are CUE Artists programmes for?

CUE programmes are designed for DJs, music producers and developing electronic music artists at different stages. Some programmes are suitable for beginners, while others require existing technical or creative experience.

What age do I need to be?

Applicants must be 18 years or older when the programme begins. Any programme-specific age requirement is confirmed before enrolment.

What language are the programmes taught in?

CUE Artists programmes are delivered in English.

What programmes are currently available?

CUE Artists currently offers: DJ Development & Performance, Music Production Development, Intermediate & Advanced Music Production with URI, and Artist Development & Professional EPK.

What if I am not sure whether I am Beginner or Intermediate?

That's fine. Your current level is reviewed during the application process. You don't need to place yourself perfectly before applying.

Can CUE recommend a different programme from the one I applied for?

Yes. If another programme or pathway appears more appropriate for your current stage, CUE may recommend it before you confirm your booking. You are not required to accept the recommendation.

How large are the groups?

DJ Development: three students per cohort. Music Production Development with Phynyks: three to four students. Production with URI: one-to-one. Artist Development & Professional EPK: one-to-one.

Where are the Malta programmes delivered?

Selected Malta programmes are delivered at INSYNK Spaces, subject to the structure of the relevant programme.

Are online programmes available?

Yes. URI's Intermediate & Advanced Music Production programme is delivered live online on a one-to-one basis. Some Artist Development work may also be delivered online as part of its hybrid format.

Are sessions recorded?

Sessions are not automatically recorded. Recording requires prior agreement from the tutor and any other person being recorded.

Which DAWs can I use?

DAW requirements depend on the programme. Phynyks programmes review technical compatibility before enrolment. URI primarily works in Ableton Live and Cubase, although producers using other DAWs may be considered if they already understand their software and can follow production principles across different systems.

Do I need my own laptop?

For production programmes, you should have access to a suitable computer and the software required for your work. Any specific technical requirements are confirmed before your place is secured.

Do I need to own legal software and plugins?

Yes. Students are responsible for using legally accessible software, plugins and other production tools.

Do I need previous DJ experience?

Not for the Beginner pathway. Intermediate applicants should already understand the fundamentals and be able to mix with some consistency. Your level is reviewed before programme confirmation.

What equipment is used?

Selected DJ Development sessions use a professional AlphaTheta setup including 2 × CDJ-3000X players and a DJM-A9 mixer. Additional studio equipment may be used where relevant.

Do I need to already have an artist project?

You need enough real material for the programme to work with. This may include music, DJ mixes, artist profiles, existing biographies, visuals, releases or performance experience. You do not need to arrive with a complete professional project.

Will CUE invent an artist story or achievements for me?

No. CUE Artist Development is based on honest positioning. We do not create false achievements, invented releases, fake support or manufactured artist stories.

What is included in the Professional EPK?

Depending on your pathway, your EPK may include artist positioning, a professional biography, music and performance links, verified releases and achievements, approved visual material and booking information. Your programme page confirms the full deliverables.

What is the CUE Malta–Netherlands Artist Pathway?

The Artist Pathway is the wider development structure surrounding eligible CUE programmes. It helps connect specialist development to the broader artist project through progress direction, professional context and next-stage planning.

Is the Artist Pathway the same as Artist Development & Professional EPK?

No. The Artist Pathway provides wider development direction. Artist Development & Professional EPK is a dedicated one-to-one programme that goes deeper into areas such as positioning, biography, visual direction, EPK development and professional presentation.

What is the CUE Artist Platform?

Selected programmes include access to the private CUE Artist Platform, a development environment built specifically around the CUE Artists process. Access and available features depend on your programme and development stage.

How are programme prices calculated?

Programme pricing may include the Core Programme Fee, the mandatory CUE Artist Pathway & Programme Services Fee where applicable, and any applicable VAT. The complete consumer price is confirmed before you make payment.

What is the CUE Artist Pathway & Programme Services Fee?

Eligible programmes include a fee calculated at 15% of the Core Programme Fee. It supports the wider CUE structure surrounding the specialist programme, including programme coordination, Artist Pathway participation and wider development direction.

Can I pay monthly?

Monthly payment plans are not currently available. Unless otherwise stated, the complete programme fee must be paid before the programme begins.

Is VAT included?

The complete consumer price and any applicable VAT treatment are confirmed before enrolment.

Does submitting an application reserve my place?

No. Submitting an application does not reserve a place or create a payment obligation. Your booking is confirmed only after your application is accepted and the required payment has been received.

How does the application process work?

1. Submit your application. 2. CUE reviews your current level, goals and relevant work. 3. You receive a recommended programme or pathway where appropriate. 4. You review the schedule, complete price and booking conditions. 5. Payment confirms your place.

What happens if a group programme does not reach the required number of students?

CUE may offer a new start date, another suitable pathway, programme credit or another appropriate solution. Where CUE cannot provide the booked programme, the available options are handled according to the Booking Conditions and applicable consumer rights.

Can I cancel after booking?

Cancellation and withdrawal rights depend on the timing and circumstances of your booking. Please read the full Booking Conditions before making payment.

Can I reschedule a session?

For one-to-one programmes, reasonable rescheduling requests may be considered depending on notice and tutor availability. Group sessions generally follow the confirmed programme timetable.

What happens if I miss a session?

A missed session does not automatically entitle you to a replacement session, refund or programme extension. Please contact CUE as early as possible if you cannot attend.

Will completing a programme get me bookings or releases?

No programme can guarantee bookings, releases, label interest, representation, audience growth or income. CUE focuses on development, preparation, feedback and helping you make stronger professional and creative decisions.

Are CUE programmes accredited qualifications?

No. CUE Artists programmes are private development programmes and are not presented as accredited academic qualifications.
